A noisy dryer is telling you which component is wearing out. Listen to the type of sound.

Squealing

A high squeal usually means dry drum rollers or a worn idler pulley.

Fix: Replace the rollers and idler pulley as a set.

Thumping

A rhythmic thump often comes from a flat-spotted roller or a lump in the felt drum seal.

Fix: Inspect the rollers and the front/rear drum glides.

Grinding or Scraping

Metal-on-metal grinding points to worn drum glides or a failing blower wheel.

Fix: Have these inspected promptly to avoid drum damage.
