Dishwasher Not Drying Dishes: Why and How to Fix

Wet dishes at the end of the cycle usually come down to rinse aid, plastic loads, or a failed heating element.

Modern dishwashers rely on heat and rinse aid to dry. If dishes stay wet, one of those is missing.

Refill the Rinse Aid

Rinse aid breaks surface tension so water sheets off instead of beading.

Fix: Keep the rinse-aid reservoir topped up and set it to a higher level.

Eco modes skip the heated dry to save energy, leaving dishes damp.

Fix: Select heated dry, or open the door at the end to let steam escape.

A failed element means no heat for drying (and weaker washing).

Fix: A technician can test and replace the element if it has gone open-circuit.
