Overheating is the most safety-critical dryer fault. Stop using it until you have ruled out a blocked vent.

Restricted Venting

A clogged lint screen or vent duct traps heat with nowhere to go.

Fix: Clean the lint screen every load and have the full vent run cleared annually.

Failed Cycling Thermostat

This thermostat regulates drum temperature; when it sticks closed, the dryer overheats.

Fix: Replacement is a standard repair once the cause of any blockage is also fixed.

Clogged Blower Wheel

Lint that bypasses the screen can pack the blower wheel and choke airflow.

Fix: A technician can clean or replace the blower assembly.
