Why Your Washer Smells — and How to Fix It

That musty front-loader smell is mould feeding on detergent residue. A monthly routine clears it for good.

Run a Cleaning Cycle

Residue in the drum and dispenser harbours bacteria.

Fix: Run the tub-clean cycle (or a hot wash) with a washing-machine cleaner or white vinegar monthly.

Water pools in the folds of the door boot and never dries.

Fix: Wipe the seal after each wash and leave the door ajar between loads.

Over-dosing leaves residue that mould thrives on.

Fix: Switch to HE detergent and use the minimum recommended amount.
