Manufacturer, extended, and home warranties cover very different things. Know what you have before you pay for a repair.

Warranties are easy to misunderstand. Knowing which one applies can save you the cost of a repair entirely.

Manufacturer Warranty

Covers defects, usually for one year, sometimes longer on specific parts.

Fix: Check the purchase date and registration before paying out of pocket.

A paid plan that continues coverage past the manufacturer term.

Fix: Read the exclusions — wear items are often not covered.

A whole-home plan that may cover appliances with a service fee.

Fix: Confirm the appliance is listed and what the call-out fee is.
